I am little concerned about how universities (LPU) and institutions will address social distancing when students join university/ institute?

Hi,There are multiple measures taken at the University to ensure safety and security during COVID times. They include :- CAMPUS PREPAREDNESS: Temperature and other checks at entrance points of the university. All the members of faculty and staff are required to follow the COVID-19 related policies and requirements as stated by State/ Central Government. Additional measures include: Regular Cleaning & Disinfecting of workspace. Restrictive entry in the campus for all outsiders. 24X7 medical and health support through in-house Campus Hospital. Work from home option given to members having any health concerns. INITIATIVES IN RESIDENTIAL FACILITIES: To ensure the safety of students who would be residing in hostels, university has planned following initiatives: Regular Thermal scans for every individual entering the hostel premises. Respiratory Masks to be worn by everyone at the time of leaving the room. Sanitization of hostel rooms and other infrastructure facilities like common rooms etc. including play areas as per govt. norms Timing of consuming food in the Hostel mess to be staggered to ensure social distancing norms. Option of packed food and room service is also being explored. Uni Hospital situated at the heart of the campus is fully equipped to take care of the medical needs of the staff and students and is operational 24x7 with following facilities to manage all sort of medical emergencies. 25 bedded hospital staffed with well qualified doctors, nurses and lab technicians. Full time qualified doctors including a general physician, pathologist, ophthalmologist, dentist along with a physician from traditional Ayurvedic system of medicine. Visiting specialists once a week for providing specialty clinics. Tie up with Twenty-five hospitals for referral cases requiring specialized medical intervention. Equipped to provide various services such as handling emergencies, minor surgeries at Uni Hospital 24X7 Chemist shop where medicines are available at subsidized rates. Qualified psychologists available for counseling. Physiotherapy OPD available with experts for handling cardiovascular, neurological, orthopedic, sports and pediatric physiotherapy. Specialized labs have been set up including Electro diagnostic and Electro therapeutic modalities, Orthopedics and Sports Rehab, Neurological Rehab, Cardiopulmonary Rehab, and Pediatrics Rehab. Regular health and counseling sessions are conducted in hostels and classrooms to enhance heath awareness.

When the world was shaken up due to the sudden break of COVID 19 Pandemic, LPU didn't gave up. It understood the time cruciality and the importance of the turn of students career. I have personally witnessed each measures that LPU has been practicing ever since the grey phase of the pandemic has began. Right from the entrance point where regular check of temperature and cold is done. Inside there magnificent campus at each terminal there is the sanitizer points and ensuring the health and hygiene the university also sanitizes the corridors and the rooms on daily basis. Inside the campus the seating arrangements are done keeping in the distance management in mind. When the rest of universities and educational institution decided to call of the academic session. LPU introduce a completely university configured classroom portal of myclass, where the students were not only benefitted with the class conduction but also could refer to the recordings and lecture notes of the same and that too at the dispersal of their time convenience. This mode was reachable by just clicking on chrome and one didn't require any additional down loading. Education was easily accessible and comprehendible now. Along with this LPU also added an additional feature of LPU LIVE in the university management system, through this chat mode the children could easily communicate with their faculty members at the time of any doubt sessions. LPU believed that in this crucial time when life was damn taxing, a shoulder of a friend is much needed. Hence to encourage warm mentorship model. It developed a separate vertical in their UMS by the name of My Dost where the counsellors were available to hear out your stress and help you from recovering from the cause & effect of the stress you have just been through. LPU strongly believes in the mission of THINK BIG! And at every step it ensures to meet it. This is how LPU kept up the pace during pandemic.

Being a student of LPU I learnt one principle rule from the university NEVER GIVE UP The moment the nation announced an absolute lockdown LPU worked day and night to facilitate classes conduction. It values and understands what an academic session is for a child and their parents.
