The job opportunities in different streams differs each year. Sometimes it's too high and sometimes low. But mechanical and civil engineering has constant opportunities since years. You can choose between them.

If you want private jobs then CSE is good but for government jobs you should opt for civil engineering.

if u want to go in pvt sector den u can go for cse. but if u r little worry that pvt jobs are not secured den u can go for core branches.
jst for example , u take civil. den u can go for pvt jobs IN companies like L & T. nd altough u can give gate exam after which u ll be called by various PSU'S. even after cse u can give gate but their seats are less in comparison to civil.

IIT is not the only option.
Don't think like. in IITs there r 100% placements.
There r various good colleges in INDIA.
I will not suggest any branch because it's completely on u to decide acc. 2 ur interest n aim.
U have applied 4 VIT n SRM. both r good colleges. . U can make ur career through this colleges.
Bt remember college doesn't matter. knowledge matters.
So strengthen ur knowledge. U will definitely get good placements. if u have good knowledge. in ur field.

Honestly I won't say that all the branches are equal and have same scope and college doesn't matter it's you and your interest. Yes your interest is important but it does matter which branch you choose in which college but if you have applied for VIT or SRM these are fairly good enough colleges to get you placed. Do some research on net about those colleges. Now your doubts about branches, I will say mechanical, civil, CSE, IT, electrical these are core branches that will never let you become jobless if you're good in any of th

IITs definitely give an advantage in the job market. But, someother colleges of Technology also enjoy prestige and give good placement. In the job search, Computer is bringing immediate result. Other Branches are also pursued, but all roads finally end up with Computer.
