I'm from UP board. Should I drop a year for JEE or should I try my luck this year? Can you suggest the best books for preparing JEE?

If you have studied well for UP board exams then you may try for JEE this year itself. UP board is tough as compared to CBSE and you still have time for the exam. You can prepare well. Also, if you are not able to crack JEE and don't get a good engineering college then you can drop a year. But remember that your target are IITs but if you are getting admission in a reputed institute like DTU, BITS Pilani or NITs then also do not take a drop, rather take admission in those colleges as they also offer good placements.
