I want to join LPU but is it necessary to pass LPU NEST or JEE Mains?

Being LPU alumni, Let me guide you. In certain courses LPU NEST is mandatory, like if your are seeking admission in B.Tech, MBA courses then LPU NEST is mandatory, without LPU NEST you are not eligible for admission, However in certain courses like B.A. BBA etc. LPU NEST is not mandatory, you can get admission based on your previous qualification.
