Is Humanities a good career option as opposed to sciences and commerce?

It totally depends upon the interest of the students. Many scholars from Humanities are successful and many from other two fields too. It depends upon students that in which field they have interest or in which field they want to make their career. Scope in Humanities is also good. There are many subjects such as History, Geography, Sociology, Political Science, Hindi, English and some more which helps students to make their better career. If a student has interest in civil service jobs, then by choosing these subjects, they can easily crack this exam. Yes, there is a difference in their scope. If any student wants government job, then candidate has to go for humanities field because there is more scope in this field in comparison to other two. Taking government job is quite tough as there is seat reservation and caste category which makes job from humanities tough. But, science and commerce students can easily find job in government or private sector. Humanities has less job scope in private sector. Science and commerce students can find job all over in India or in international company. But in Humanities, there is less job scope in international market. If someone is interested in government jobs and works really hard, then they came to humanities.

It is indeed good career option for those who are passionate for it. There should not be comparisons between both streams (humanities and science). No, there is no competition/comparison between both because both have immense job opportunities for them, those who love them. Primary thing is that, you must go according to your choice/passion/dream/future plan/personality type. All the best friend.

Hello, This highly depends on the interest of the person. A candidate should always consider branch which interests him/her. Now, be it science, commerce or arts. Each field has its own flowers. Humanities as a subject is very powerful for understanding how society and system works in and around us. There are plenty of opportunities connected with Humanities. A person can opt for behaviour sciences, to opt for languages. Over and above, it is the liking of a person that should define choice of a candidate. There are many science and commerce guys out there in market so yes if you option for Arts and do considerably good chances of shining out are higher. A person can go into academics, human behavior science, human mind analytics, society consultants, etc. All the best. Choose the field that suits you.

There's really no such thing as a "Prior Interests, etc.”. Globe is progressing rapidly, opportunities are plentiful and demand for competent professionals exists in every field. If you are good at what you do, interest would automatically generate, Spend some more time with yourself go and use this wonderful technology "internet" try and fix up your long term goals in terms of career you would like to take up, then decide whether commerce or arts suits your goals better. Do some online test for Identify and evaluate yourself (test like personality, aptitude and interest test) you can find a lot of useful sites across the web and write down your entire dreams on a piece of paper and co-relate with the available option. If you like humanities then you will love to teach your favorite subjects to others also. Other than being a lecturer, you can make a career in the following fields: Geologists Psychologists Lawyers Reporters Journalists News editors Media executives Business executives Entrepreneur Professional photographer Lecturers Teachers Coach Physical education teacher

Career options go beyond Engineering, Medicine and Finance. Most engineers switch streams early on in their careers and move to finance or marketing. Why they choose to study engineering in the first place is always a mystery to me! In the last decade, there has been an explosion of non-conventional career options, many of which require a good grounding in Humanities rather than scientific knowledge. Mass Communication, Journalism, Design and Art, Rural Marketing, Law, Public Policy, Human Rights, Social Work are some of the career options that are available to Humanities students. These career options are not only interesting but also popular and lucrative. Humanities with Mathematics is definitely a strong combination that leaves a lot of options open, including a career in Business or Finance. But even for those Maths-haters who chose to option for a pure Humanities course, there is no reason to worry! A Liberal Arts background carries value in today’s world, with many colleges and employers looking for individuals who have a wider perspective on contemporary problems. Nothing gives you a wider perspective than an education in Humanities. I feel lucky that I was able to option for Humanities without fear.

It's stupidity that a majority of students are going for science and commerce just because they are being told about them. If humanities is the subject which you like, then go for humanities. Good or Bad are relative term. It is not necessary that whether something is good for you is also good for others. Humanities is absolutely a good career option if you are interested about it. Same for other stream as well. What all matter is your willingness and interest. Now, come on to your query; Humanities is indeed a good career option. Here, you can not just be the professor or faculties in University/college but you also can be the part of any organization while being economists, relationship manager, journalist, research analyst and etc. Thus, there is not any deficiency or job chances in India for Humanities students. Not just in India, but you also can go to abroad also for having PhD degree and become research scholar.
