Hello Mohan journalism is a vast field that requires your command at every topic. If you are opting for this course it doesn't mean you should be good at English. If you want to work for an English newspaper/site or TV channel then, of course, you need to be a grammar nazi. If you want to apply for Hindi media then you must have a working knowledge of English. So, a working knowledge is necessary for doing translation work for a Hindi news website. But, it's not compulsory.

No. In India, there are many vernaculars media groups that ask for expertise in regional languages, however, the basic knowledge of English in a plus point. We have many examples of media personalities like Ameen Siyani, Ravish Kumar, Prabhu Chawla, etc., who succeeded by working in regional language.

No, not exactly but yes, if you are willing to join a big house (news) then you must have knowledge. If you are more into Hindi, even then it is fine as knowledge helps you to take a step forward.
