Hi, it is generally advisable to pursue a job in the area of your specialization so that you can apply practically what you had learned. Finance students go for sales-related jobs only if there are not able to get placed in finance-related companies. There are a lot of opportunities from banks, and companies like Deloitte etc. If you improve yourself with more subject knowledge in finance then you can definitely get placed in a finance related job.

6 years agoA sales job is good and has incremental growth but provided you should be ready to do marketing work in your finance stream. You have to take a decision based on your career goals. Where do you see yourself after 20 years? Industry requirements have turned diverse and competitive that even finance students are given sales related jobs. -
The question needs to be understood from the perspective of your own choice of career lines. We may not be able to attract investment banking or equity research oriented jobs as part of placement programme. If your choice is such, you need to move up to higher CAT scores and get into those institutions like IIM Calcutta which are strong in finance domain. No one gives the jobs, it depends on your choice.
