Is LPU good for civil engineering? How are the placements of the same in LPU?

Being an alumni of LPU I believe that I can answer your query properly. LPU is one of the finest universities in India. The dept. Of Civil Engineering offers very dynamic study content. It not only focuses on teaching concepts of civil engineering but also lays stress on practical application of the principles and theories. Being more interested in structural engineering I personally found the content of courses like, Design of Structures, Bridge design, Fluid Mechanics designed in such an interesting way that you hardly find any other university working on syllabus enhancement to such an extent as LPU does. The dept. Of civil engineering has all the required labs with up to date machinery and modern equipment. They also have NABL-accredited lab for mechanical testing of building materials which makes LPU the only private university in India and first university in Punjab to receive this accreditation. Their curriculum for civil engineering is revised every year by leading professionals in the field of construction industry and the students represent LPU at various national and international level competitions for civil engineering. Their placements are also at par with the demand in industry. Many construction giants like Linkhouse Buildwell, KEC international, L&T have been vising LPU for placements. They have labs maintained by Bentley which provides training for the latest software which are in demand by the industry. They also teach practical applications of the latest software like Staad Pro v8i, E-tabs, MS Project, Primavera, Auto Cad, Sewer Gems, Plaxis etc. As of now the placement scenarios is very attractive for civil engineering student from LPU. Two Civil Engineering Students Placed in Trident with Packages of INR 15 LPA, Think n Learn offered package of 10 LPA, Dharam Consulting offered package of 4.5LPA, OYO Rooms offered package of 4.0 LPA, Earth to Sky infrastructure offered package of 3.6 LPA, And one more thing to mention, with over 35k students studying in campus, you can also collaborate with your friends from different disciplines and work on projects. I worked on a project along with my CSE friends which itself was an amazing experience. In my opinion you should consider your decision of studying civil engineering from LPU to get exposed to seamless opportunities for your growth.

Dear Brijesh, LPU is surely good choice for Engineering. LPU provides abundant opportunities for students to think out of the box. An Engineering programme which articulates the concepts from basic Science to technology through lab practice and projects to gain knowledge in areas like Structural, Environmental & Highway Engineering, Construction Management etc. Which are in sync with industry requirements. LPU is one of the best private universities in the country with world-class infrastructure, modern facilities and highly qualified faculty. It has around 25000+ Students across the campus in different professional Schools. It offers more than 200 programmes in various disciplines. LPU has AA+ Infrastructure including shopping malls, refreshment centers, the largest Private University Accommodation in the world, 13000 + CC cameras, indoor transportation system, University Management System, etc. Global tie-ups and MOU with top foreign universities for scope of foreign studies and foreign placement. Ranked 2nd for OUTREACH AND INCLUSIVITY in all of INDIA. The network and tie ups this university has is unthinkable. Being the largest private university with accommodation and food facilities for staggering 20000 students in a single university, is the talk of the town and corporate want to get associated with the university as well. Lovely Professional University is best option to pursue Civil Engineering. My cousin brother has completed same course from LPU. Reviews are pretty good. He told me LPU Provide vital experiential learning opportunity that links classroom learning and student interest with the acquisition of knowledge in an applied work setting like a company, industry, non-profit, governmental, or community-based organisation related to the field of civil engineering. He said, The capstone project is an integral part of B.Tech programme in which students have to pick a live project based on practical problem-based scenario (ideally from industry) and work for six months under a mentor and present a report at the end. This is beneficial to enhance your presentation skills. Industrial visits are organized to nearby construction sites from time to time. There, you can SEE actual construction work going on. Be prepare to have dust on your shoes (believe me, it will be worth a lot). You have to ask questions yourself and trigger interest in the activities around you. Student after successful completion of 2 years. At LPU may be given option to join partner/ receiving university abroad for the completion of programme subject to conditions and norms of regulatory bodies. I did MBA from Lovely Professional University but I have one friend who has done B.Tech Civil Engineering From LPU. Dear Brijesh, My friend did B.Tech and M.Tech in Civil Engineering at LPU and now working as a Project Engineer in an MNC. Let me share details of civil engineering at LPU. 1. Most of the faculty staff are from reputed organizations with their the highest degree from various reputed institutes such as IITs, NITs, etc. Apart from that, faculty have got previous industrial experience also. 2. The capstone project is an integral part of the B.Tech programme in which students have to pick a live project based on the practical problem-based scenario (ideally from industry) and work for six months under a mentor and present a report at the end. This is beneficial to enhance your presentation skills. 3. There is an internship programme that could be an opportunity for getting work experience and increase your chance to get employment after you pass out. But, of course, your academic record should be good to get this placement option. 4. Industrial visits are organized to nearby construction sites from time to time. There, you can SEE actual construction work going on. Be prepared to have dust on your shoes (believe me, it will be worth a lot). You have to ask questions yourself and trigger interest in the activities around you. 5. You will get some courses from soft skills, English language, mental and analytical aptitude side. This sounds dull to you as of now. But you will feel its importance when you face an interview panel in a company during your placement drives. 6. They have very good placement records and good infrastructure companies visit their campus, L & T, Simplex Piles Ltd, Era Infrastructure, Gammon India Ltd to name a few. 7. Career-oriented Software training in project labs is given. To work in this profession, you are supposed to be familiar with software like MS-Project, STAAD Pro, MX Road, etc. Nonetheless, you will be trained in Auto CAD in your second year which is a prerequisite for any Civil Engineer. 8. Every theory course is complemented with relevant lab-based practical work. Some of the labs are based on field testing where experimental work is to be done, e. g. Soil Lab & Surveying Lab. I have done engineering from LPU and I have a lot of friends from the civil branch and they all are placed in good sectors with great packages. Students are placed in companies like Cleanmax Solar, Al Rakha (UAE), Dharam Consulting, Era Infra Engineering Ltd. , KEC International, Simplex, WSP India, XL Dynamics, CVENT, Rishishwar Construction, Premier Developers and Contractors, etc. In Civil Engineering LPU emphasizes the evolution of manmade infrastructure as LPU understands how they have evolved to the present scenario. With the advancement of technology in leaps and bounds, the future of civil engineering in the years to come will be crucial, especially with the establishment of smart cities. LPU is nurturing our students to adapt and be equipped with this ever-changing scenario. To cater to these needs the department is structured into five vibrant centers of studies: Structural. Hydraulics. Environment. Geotechnica. Transportation. As per my friend's experiences, those are graduated in civil from LPU.
