Lovely Professional University is recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC), a statutory body of the Government of India for the coordination, determination and maintenance of standards of university education in India, under section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. And in the stream of agriculture courses like B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture, M.Sc. Ag. (Genetics & Plant Breeding), M.Sc. Ag. (Agronomy) and M.Sc. Ag. Horticulture (Fruit Science) programmes are accredited to ICAR by the National Agricultural Education Board of Indian Council of Agricultural Research, an autonomous body responsible for coordinating agricultural education and research in India. It reports to the Department of Agricultural Research and Education, Ministry of Agriculture.

Hello, Hareesh. Yes, LPU was approved by the UGC in 2005 under section 2F of the UGC Act. LPU is the first and only private university in the country to receive ICAR accreditation. In the previous 15 years, LPU has built a strong reputation in the field of education, becoming India's largest private university and drawing more than 30000 students from all 50 states and more than 70 countries. LPU has set a standard for all other private and public universities, particularly in terms of curriculum, diversity, exposure, support for entrepreneurship, and placements, which is LPU's greatest strength. First, let me explain what ICAR stands for. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is an accreditation given by the Indian Ministry of Agriculture to the best universities in their field. This means that a university has all of the resources in terms of labs, fields, well-qualified and experienced staff, and faculty, and so on. Then, and only then, is this connection granted to that university. Meeting the ICAR criteria is quite challenging for an institution.
