    National Institute of Technology Silchar is a government operating institute. With the affiliation from Guwahati University, the institute has begun its academic program. It should be noted that the National Institute of Technology Silchar was founded in 1967 as a Regional Engineering College (REC).

    Yes, NIT Silchar is a government engineering institute. It is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology (NITs) established by the Government of India.

    National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar is a government engineering institute. The institute has started its academic programme with affiliation from Guwahati University. Moreover, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar was started as a Regional Engineering College (REC) in 1967. Additionally, the institute has been ranked 22 by India Today 2023 under the Engineering (Government) category.

If you belong to the General AI category, the cutoff for all specialisations and rounds ranged from 360 to 526, wherein M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering was the most competitive. For the  OBC AI and SC AI category candidates, the last round cutoff ranged from 317 to 486, and 231 to 328, wherein M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering and M.Tech. in Transportation Engineering were the toughest specialisations to crack, respectively. NIT Silchar 2025 cutoff for MSc has been released for admissions to various categories. For the General AI category, the cutoff ranged from 1111 to 1679, wherein M.Sc. in Mathematics was the most popular and therefore, the most competitive. For the OBC AI category, the MSc cutoff 2025 ranged from 1251 to 3775, wherein the same course was also the most competitive. However, please note that different categories will have different cutoffs accordingly.
