    PEC stands for Punjab Engineering College (deemed to be University) . The institute focuses on public research and technical institution. The institute comes under a tier 2 B.Tech Colleges. The admission is accepted through Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main. Placement records are decent at 80-85 percent. 

    So, no Punjab Engineering College (deemed to be University) is not overhyped but indeed a great institute.

    No, PES University is not considered overhyped. Nationally, PES University is ranked among the top 100-150 BTech colleges in India by the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF 2023).
