Three things to keep in mind in group discussion
    1. Always try to initiate the discussion with such a point so that the other person must continue further from you point where you ended
    2. Always try to tackle opponents points with your point is a relevant manner
    3. Make the whole panel to agree on the same point said by you.

Group discussion is the second step to enter in corporate world or to take admission in any good college as the first one is the written aptitude test. Gd is basically done to check whether person has the knowledge of that particular topic, is he confident or not, can convince others while proving himself. Thus to make a positive impact in gd one must have to be very clear with his words, his voice should be loud not aggressive, he must be confident and his content should be good.

It means a total impact, especially an impact on the judge. The initiative from the participant is vital. He must be able to jump into discussion, minimizing the waiting time. His Language should be fluent and it should be free from mistakes. He should have a good awareness of the topic, under discussion. He should provide a right conclusion

Here you are putting your view in-front of few people, and discussing their views to yours and matching them. A group discussion may not give a right answer but a supportive solution. A person who can make the group decision to his decision(as group member includes himself) is the person at lead. So, let understand people don't act but love your colleagues as yourself.
Sitting with your family and discuss about a movie plan or tour plan, now see the result. a real GD means.

Group Discussion is a very normal and common thing to happen and it should not be treated as something exclusive. When we try to make an effort to speak in public we sometimes lose our natural command over voice and thought process. Practicing in front of mirror to speak loudly and air your views is a good habit to overcome fear as most theater artists do. And last thing to excel in any GD is to be the last person to speak and air your views as you get time to frame your thoughts and speak diplomatically to avoid any negative argument.

Group discussions are conducted to check the thought process and understanding of the candidates on the particular topic. It is basically to judge the nature and attitude of a candidate. So the points being discussed in group discussion should be relevant to the topic and it should be covered with facts and figures or should be from appropriate and relevant resources. Also it helps evaluator to evaluate the leadership quality of candidate. A great leader should not only be a good Orator but also a good listener and should make decisions only after understanding the thoughts and views of other. A great leader should not be dominating. S

Excellent topic to enlighten the readers. Group discussion were started to see how a person works in a team as today's world is all about collaborating and sharing. Since a participant may or may not get enough time, its important to make one's presence felt without being aggressive. Most of the points have already been shared by the experts here so will just add this:
    1. Practice how you initiate or moderate a discussion with appropriate choice of words.
    2. You are definitely watched for your body language and gestures as 75% communication happens non verbally.

In group discussion clarity of speech,Command over language and knowledge of the topics are important. But the important thing in "Group"Discussion is your target audience(employer and candidates) is listening you.reading your mind and analysing you at the same time. So to get noticed one needs to speak clearly, speak to the point, proper body language, gestures, eye contact and wherever necessary give statics also. This will turn your words towards scientific approach(which is acceptable to mass public).
But avoid too much Stata. Have a balanced approach.keep your emotions aside. Choice of words can also play a great role.

For any Group Discussion (GD), reading is very important. You can talk about a certain topic only when you have read about it. This is the area where majority of MBA aspirants are lagging behind.
To make a positive impact on Group Discussion Panel one needs to speak very clearly about the topic. He/ she should describe the subject along with its pros and cons. For instance if the topic is GST, a candidate should cover every aspect of it.
While talking a candidate must address only the participants in a GD and not the panel. Also He/ she must allow other participants to express their views. This might definitely send a positive messag

An excellent idea. I find that students do lack in general awareness. They can't express fluently even on a Nirbhaya problem. They may have to begin with a newspaper first. They have to maintain notes. They must have some beliefs which they should express boldly. They should not be too gentle at the time of discussion. They must jump to participate. Lastly, they must remember that a GD is different from a Debate.
