I think we all have been deviated by this question from the real topic which is what is the value of other PG Programmes when we compare it with MBA. I feel that several experts still not got involved in this topic . I am missing @gomti out here.

If a person is having excessive passion and hence he may able to crack entrance so why he should wait another 2yrs for experience, if he is getting a reputed degree in these years he can have experience later.
I expect experts view in MSK70515 in dis discussion

maybe we are trying to see things from a global outlook if we take MSK70515's view.Desi view is "managerial" window opens with MBA. Is it really practical to expect a managerial work exp. after bachelors? the BIG question .Alternatively some maybe looking for research after MBA.

Its a very common question which intrigues almost all of us, when we complete our graduation or in the final year of graduation.
The question comes; what to do? MBA or PG in the subject which we studied in Undergraduate.!
Please remember MBA is a management studies and can even be pursued after your PG, what student usually do now days is that, they immediately after completing their graduation they jump into the MBA course, without doing the proper research. It always advisable to attain at least 2 years of work experience after graduation and then enroll for MBA. PG in management is more of a theoretical oriented course and MBA is mor

Hi Arun, I certainly feel that there is no comparison and one should not even draw it that ways. MBA is a complete Mnaagement oriented course, so even if you take up MBA in IT, that does not involves coding, where as IT does offers it; and the same way when you take up say M.Com which is a commerce oriented stream with a specialization in Management, you would tend to have a little less management and a little more commerce, however the difference is minute so to be figure out largely.
But this is entirely my way of thinking I would not know what other experts think on this.

Well it is important to pursue a course from a very good and renowned institute as an example explained by Pooja earlier in the discussion so to gain creme opportunities, but like you have asked about a student pursuing M.Com in Mgt from Mumbai university which is one of the well recognized university within the country may be incomparable to LSE, but it still has its own identity and holds market value and recognition. I would state that it is better to pursue a degree that is of your interest from a university which is valid and offers course well accredited by the required bodies.

Arun, I would say that the value of these degrees would be good if they are done through a Top University say M.Sc In Economics through LSE (i.e. London School of Economics) would def have value equivalent to MBA in india.
