Good question and nice formation of the question too. Well, your future depends on yourself but there are some factors that can lead you close to it. These factors include good colleges like LPU. The tone of the question was blaming and pessimist so Id say that you should be aware of your own capabilities and should not try to defame the institutions that have good reputation in society. I would say that Lovely Professional University is a great university which every students are looking for. Both has good placement but in case of infrastructure and facility LPU is better than SRM. If you really want to do B.Tech and assure yourself that you can perform well in academic then choose any one where you feel comfortable because LPU situated in North and SRM, Chennai situated in South.

Being from Punjab, I am much aware about Lovely professional university. So I would like to share my view point for the same. LPU is the best private university to go for B.Tech, it is one of the top 5 universities of India, providing quality education, innovative pedagogy and unbeatable placements both national and international. LPU provides a great academic exposure to its students. It provides a chance to the students to attend guest lectures or workshops, so that they get to learn as much as they can. Instead of using old school books and lectures, LPU has experimented with books, interactive problem-solving interactions and working through real-world applications. LPU offers various programmes in CSE like cloud computing, big data, Android application development, Cyber Security, Full stack web development etc. Every year more than 550 companies visit lpu for recruitment purpose. Many alumni are working in the big giants of the industry.
