M n O 4 2 A + B

Oxidation state of Mn in B < A

              M n O 4 2 + H + M n O 4 + M n O 2

              B is MnO2

Oxidation state of Mn = +4

              2 5 M n + 4 = 1 s 2 2 s 2 2 p 6 3 s 2 3 p 6 4 s 0 3 d 3

               unpaired electron = 3

              Spin only magnetic moment ( μ )

              = n ( n + 2 ) = 3 ( 3 + 2 ) = 1 5

              = 3 . 8 7 4
