    This is a short answer type question as classified in NCERT Exemplar

    Bulk modulus of rubber is 9.8×108 N/m2

    density of sea water is 103 kg m-3

    percentage decrease in volume ? V V × 100 = 0.1

    ? V V = 1 1000

    Let the rubber ball be taken up to depth h.

    Change in pressure =h ρ g

    Bulk modulus K= p ? V V = h ρ g ? V V

    So h = k × ? V / V ρ g = 9.8 × 10 8 × 1 / 1000 10 3 × 9.8 = 100 m
