Hi Goutam,
There are a few students who have come in with a 90%ile into IIMB and with no work experience, but the percentage of such students would be less than 5% (unless they fall in the reservation quota). These rare few have been selected owing to their profile: they're either (1) from a diverse background (not the conventional engineering background) and hence have been selected due to the fact that they bring a fresh perspective and a different outlook to the table and develop a conducive and more inclusive learning atmosphere; (2) exceptionally good in their acads all through school up to college.
I hope this helps. Let me know ca

No! no internships/work experience required! my class is mixed bag of people with both back grounds. So don't worry!
No portfolio can be seen if you get a Skype Interview which happens in all other cities except for Delhi and Mumbai where the coordinators personally have the interview. So if you have something that is worthwhile then feel free to present it to them.

Well! to be clear i don't get a chance to indulge in the selection process. That completely depends on the Course coordinators. What i can suggest is that! don't take too much tension about the marks and just go for it! if you can impress them in the personal interview (There is no GD for Advertising and Marketing- GD is for PR and Corp Comm) then maybe you might get lucky.

The questions that are generally asked are based on the following topics
Mass Aptitude
General Awareness
English
Logical Reasoning
These all are very basic question so do not compare them to MBA standards.
Also at the end there will be one question which requires a bit of detailed explanation.
Eg. The question asked to me was "Why do you think the marketing strategy of Tata Nano failed?"
