55 is too low a score to secure a seat in a government reputed college. However, you may appear for other entrance exams and secure a seat in a reputed institution.
Other than JEE, you may choose to write the below mentioned entrances:
Students appear for different Engineering Entrance Exams like:

4. UPTU and many more at the state level and institute specific.

With PCM combination of subjects, you can pursue almost any field you set your mind on. You can ofcourse do Engineering which is a professional degree and has streams such as Electrical, Mechanical, Electronic and Communication etc. You can do your graduation in subjects of your interest, even switching to Humanities or Commerce streams if you so desire. You can do a BCA (Computer Applications), BBA (Business Administration), Law, Civil Aviation – Pilot, Astronomy, Architecture, Design, Mass Communication, Merchant Navy, Defense Forces, Psychology, Civil Services etc. To decide on the course, you should analyse your strengths, career goals, interests, personality, aptitude and ability. Yes. Having extra curricular certificates does help you but only if they have not hampered your academics. You can never justify your extra curricular for your low grades (unless you are a national/international achiever in some domain). Understand this, there is a reason they are called "extra curricular", focus on the word "extra". It is extra to your curricular. So never use it as a justification for your low grades. But, if you are one of those who have maintained good/average grades throughout and performed good in extra curricular activities then that will be appreciated, as you maintained a healthy balance between both. And that is one of the quality which is desirable in a manager, one who can maintain balance and also give efficient & effective results. All the best.
