At this stage, you may want to understand the creative world & the careers it offers. Interiors, textile as well as Web Design rely on the same skills - your layout skills & color sense. Journalism also is at this level and relies on your language skills & knowledge of history and current affairs. A little higher perches Graphic Design, Fashion Design, jewellery design, Acting, & Fine Arts which rely on one of your artistic skills - sketching & imagination. At a similar level perches VFX as well as Motion Graphics which rely on one of your artistic skills - Cinematographic skills & imagination. Then come careers like Animation, Film Making, Game Design which rely on multiple talents like your authority over sketching, acting, direction, voice, sound, writing, storytelling & problem solving skills etc. Any extra skill can be used in this. So it turns out to be one of the most challenging as well as satisfying careers. Sure not recommended for the weak hearted. The minimum eligibility CAT percentile and annual fees of the college should always be kept in mind before applying for admission. These days English is the corporate language and it is therefore important that you are comfortable using it both in the written and spoken form. The best way to improve your English would be to practice and listen carefully.
1) Language skills are best developed through practice so we recommend that you make a conscious effort to speak, read and write in English as much as possible. Reading aloud from newspapers and magazines is a tried and tested method of improvement, if done regularly. Talking in English to colleagues or friends who are used to your using your mother tongue may seem tough at first but has huge dividends. You could listen to English News channels or watch English movies to get the right pronunciations and then practice them aloud in front of a mirror.
2) Books on English Language improvement will also help. Norman Lewis is a famous writer whose books in the area are reputed and popular. You will find a number of self help tapes in the market that you could use.
3) You could also join an English Language training course with Inlingua, British School of Languages or The British Council if these are available in your city. Else any reputed course in Spoken English will help greatly in giving you guidance and confidence. The one thing that works for everyone is practice. So keep practicing.
