CAT is tougher compared to MAT and is held only once in a year during October month while MAT is held three times in a year. Since, both are aptitude based examination, it is advisable to prepare for CAT and give both the exams. This is because it increases your chance to get admission in more prestigious colleges. IIMs only accept CAT score. IIPM conducts its own IPAT. Symbiosis conducts SNAP and Xavier institute conducts XAT. From this year on, AICTE is conducting CMAT for all AICTE approved B-schools. Now it means that if you are targeting specific colleges then you will have to give those exams but otherwise CAT & MAT is sufficient

Yes you can pursue MBA but do you realize that you would be wasting your aeronautical knowledge as after doing MBA, you will no more work as engineer. My suggestion would be to join Indian Air Force as an engineering officer which has starting salary of Rs.54,000/- PM +perks. you can visit www.iafcareer.nic.in for details regarding the procedure.
Still, if you think to join a B-school of the standard of GEM then you will have to appear in CAT (once in a year during October month) or MAT (Three times in a year) exams, score above 80 percentile, apply, give GD and PI and pursue through a regular class room program.
