If you do MA (Mass Communication & Journalism) you can get trained for Feature films, Short films, Documentary, Ad filmmaking & TV also. So you have more employment prospects. Nitte University, FTII, Jamia are all low fee institutes and universities.

Finding a job should not be an issue for IIT Kharagpur student, it is very unfortunate if he has not been able to get a job in campus placement itself.
I ran into a worse situation when I completed my B.Tech. from IIT Kharagpur in 2009. The recession caused me suffer lot more than just not getting a job, it took away two job offers that I already had.
Though I believe things are far better shaped these days, it should be only a matter of sometime before he gets a good job. Meanwhile, you should back your son and tell him that jobs will never be scarce for him.
