I think he chose the wrong branch, which is not as per his liking. If he is still in his 1st year then he amy apply to change the branch to say chemical engg., which has lesser maths oriented subjects. If not then I would suggest that he somehow completes his B.Tech and then opt for other fields such as management.

Yes if you scored more than 55% marks than you are eligible to apply.
And if you gained more 60% marks than you are eligible to apply in all universities of India.

Since you are working as a Chemist it means that you are handling the Quality control aspects of the manufacturing. If this is so then I suggest you opt for "TQM - Total Quality Management" as your MBA sepcialization subject. If you are working directly in the manufacturing plant in shifts or in general shift then MBA in Operations would be better. It would also depend upon the filed you choose to work in your career from now onwards.
