Once again the University of San Diego has strengthened its reputation as a global academic institution, rising one spot to No. 3 among public U.S. Universities in the 2024 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). BHMS course graduates cannot directly switch to allopathic medicine or practice allopathic treatments without completing additional qualifications. While they are trained in homeopathy and can legally practice homeopathic medicine, their training does not include the study of conventional medicine.

However, BHMS graduates can pursue further education in allopathic medicine by enrolling in an MBBS program, but this would require them to start from the beginning and complete the full course of study, including internships and licensing exams. As for pursuing an MD in other medical fields, BHMS graduates can apply, but they must meet the eligibility criteria and may need to clear entrance exams like NEET PG, depending on the specialization. 

One of the main challenges is the lack of widespread acceptance and recognition of homeopathy as a mainstream medical practice, which often leads to limited job opportunities and skepticism among patients. 

Homeopathic practitioners may also encounter difficulties in integrating their treatments with conventional medicine, especially in public healthcare systems. 

Additionally, there is often limited funding and support for research in homeopathy, which hampers evidence-based advancements. 

Another challenge is the competition from well-established allopathic medicine, as many patients prefer allopathic treatments due to their quick results. 

BHMS professionals also face regulatory challenges, as different states have varying regulations regarding their scope of practice, and the lack of uniformity can create confusion. 

Here is a general step-by-step process for registering as a homeopathic practitioner after completing BHMS:

• Complete the BHMS Course: Successfully complete the BHMS degree from a recognised college or university.

• Obtain the Necessary Documents: Gather the required documents.

• Choose the Homeopathic Medical Council: Decide whether to register with the State Homeopathic Medical Council or the Central Council of Homeopathy (CCH), depending on your location and the council's jurisdiction.

• Submit the Application: Fill out the registration application form provided by the council. 

• Pay the Registration Fee: Pay the required registration fee, which can vary depending on the council and location.

• Verification of Documents: The council will verify your documents and may conduct a verification process to confirm the authenticity of your qualifications.

• Complete the Registration Process: After successful verification, your name will be added to the official register, and you will be issued a registration certificate, allowing you to practice as a licensed homeopathic doctor.

• Renew Registration (if applicable): Some councils require periodic renewal of registration, so ensure you stay updated on renewal requirements.

As per a few unofficial sources, UCLA ranks better in areas like English, Biology and Psychology. But, for the STEM disciplines, especially Engineering and Computer Science, UC San Diego has a great reputation. Also, note that the research opportunities are in abundance at both universities.
