I know how confusing it is to select one field that's why I would like to give my suggestion on that. I think one should seriously consider current market forces and industry trends before choosing a career field as this is what matters in the end of completion of a course. I feel hospitality and tourism sector has huge potential considering the fact that the Prime Minister himself is stressing on tourism in and out of the country. Therefore, I would definitely advise you to make your career in this field if you find it interesting. Gain maximum skills regarding this industry and make there fortune! Hospitality and Tourism is a very delicate sector if you catch the nerve of this industry you can easily become a king! So, I would advise, go for a proper training before entering in this sector. Like you can go for BBA in hotel travel and tourism. UTM Shillong is a very good university offering this program and as Shillong itself is a tourist destination you can learn a lot here. UTM's program aims to train and develop professionals for hospitality and tourism industry. Program helps students acquire a thorough knowledge and understanding of MARKETING, Sales, Tour Planning, Tour Operation, Holiday Consulting and foreign exchange management for tourists. There are various career options available these days. Before you decide what to do, it is important that you become aware of a critical factor for success in your chosen profession. Your exam scores are one part of it considering how competitive it is to land a seat in the hallowed campuses of the IITs and other prestigious institutions.
Apart from doing the conventional courses like BA, you can do a BBA (Business Administration), Law, Fine Arts (Animation, Advertising companies, Art studios, Clothing industry, Dance studios, Digital media, Fashion houses, Magazines, Manufacturers, On-Line services, Print making, Publishing houses, Sculpture, Television, Publishing industry, Graphic arts, Teaching, Films and theatre productions, Textile industry), Mass Communication, Merchant Navy, Defense Forces, Psychology, Civil Services etc. To decide on the course, you should analyse your strengths, career goals, interests, personality, aptitude and ability. If you decide based on these parameters you will put in your best effort and will be successful in your chosen field.

Also, Salary is a function of various factors - i.e. (i) the institute where you have completed your B.Tech + M.Tech. e.g. a graduate from a top institute will command a higher salary. (ii) Your work experience - organization and type of work profile (iii) city - a metropolitan city will have higher salaries as compared to smaller cities and towns. (iv) Your current organization - i.e. where you will be joining - an MNC usually has higher salaries as compared to other organizations. (v) Your work profile i.e. Manager/ AVP, etc. Thus one cannot allocate a figure. The salary band can range between 03- 25 lakhs per annum.
