Yes, you can totally join LPU's B.Tech program via lateral entry after your diploma—it's a solid option that saves time by starting you in the second year. From what I've checked on LPU's official site, eligibility needs a 3-year diploma in engineering (post-10th or 10+2) with at least 60% marks, or equivalents like B.Sc. (non-medical), BCA, or CS. You'll also take LPUNEST for merit-based admission, though high scorers (90%+) might skip it. North-East, Sikkim, or defense folks get 5% relaxation. Personally speaking, not much time is left for CAT 2017, and if anyone has started just now, he/she needs to show utter seriousness and determined effort in their preparation of CAT 17.
Strategy, I follow is a 3 hours a subject a day which sums it up to 9 hours in total. Plan it out. If not 9 hours, go for 6 hours giving 2 hours to each of the Verbal studies, Quantitative studies and LRDI. It is even more important for an aspirant to be regular with their studies to get a good percentile.
Other strategy that you can follow is to go for a subject a day instead of doing all the subjects on a single day. This will avoid any unwanted press
