The eligibility criteria for PhD varies for every institute. However the basic requirement is a Masters degree or an equivalent degree in the relevant discipline. However the cut off percentages vary. Some of the institutes conduct entrance exams and some of them require atleast two Research Publications for the PhD programs. Some also require work experience of a couple of years.
Candidates desirous of earning a PhD in a particular area should exhibit deep understanding and maturity in that area. This is evaluated through an extensive interview by a panel of experts. A description of one or two proposed areas of specialization (1-2 pages per area) is to be attached along with the application form. The description should include references to work published in leading journals or conference proceedings including at least one reference to seminal work in that field.
