Once you get admission in IGNOU in distance education, students have to submit assignments, appear for term end exam and if required submit practical file.
- Assignments: Students can check the assignment on the official website of IGNOU as per their year of admission. Students have to submit the assignment within the specified time to their designated study centre. Some study centre might accept online submission. However, it is advised to submit a hard copy as well. Assignment has weightage of 30%.

No, there is no provision for additional benfits to the students who are residents of Varanasi. However, the university may admit students under Employee Quota. Wherein, son/daughter of BHU employees get benefits under the quota. There are 10% of seats of total admission. Additionally, the OBC, ST, and SC quota makes it up to 25%. Hence, there are 48% of seats for the general category candidates. The information mentioned here is taken from the web and hence, is indicative.

However, the level of difficulty of admission varies a lot depending on the programme a student wishes to get into and the DU college a student seeks. Some of the key parameters that define how easy or tough can it be for a student to get into a good DU college are:

- Selection of College + Course combination in the CSAS registration process

However, the assignment section in the grade card will show 'Not Completed'. Assignments are an integral part of the curriculum because the same carry 30% weightage during evaluation. A student for clearing his exam needs 40%, assignments carry a significant weightage in academics.

No, you may not be allowed to apply for another course in the next year. As per the guidelines, a candidate may not be allowed to pursue two degree programmes at the same time. However, applications can be accepted for admission to Banaras Hindu University Diploma or certificate courses. If you want to discontinue one course for another, then you will have to cancel admission in the running course before applying for another course.
