If you are sufficiently brilliant you may pursue a PhD or M Phil after your Post graduation for which you may have to appear for NET/GATE. Chiraag, I am not sure how good you are with maths and programming. If you are, then you must pick up a language whether PHP/ HTML5 (web dev), .Net (for software dev) Java/ Android (for apps) or C#/ Unity (for games). However like i mentioned, you must be good with programming to move ahead in this area since you have to compete with MCAs and BTech(CS) applicants. The Basic eligibility criteria to join Merchant Navy is:
Aspirant must have passed 12th class with physics, chemistry and maths as their main subject.
They must have completed their graduation in the field of Marine Engineering or Nautical Science to join the engineering or navigation fields in the merchant navy.
Candidates completing their graduation in Technical, Mechanical or electrical engineering field are applicable to join the Merchant Navy as Fifth Engineer or Engine Cadet.
