It is a new branch at NIT Rourkela, as it has a deep scope for development and research, so it would grow more and more in the mean time. Moreover, it is something that you would enjoy studying, if you really have any interest in production and processing of Food and maintaining its quality.
More likely, this branch is all about food making, no it is way broader. We develop food, we develop machines to develop food, we develop machines to keep the food safe. So it has certain degree of mechanical engineering, certain degree of chemical engineering and a major part of Food Science and Engineering.
As there is growth and development in India with respect to Food and Beverage Processing, there has open up a gate for great research and job opportunities, as well, in the near future or I would say it has already started.
Looking at some stats about the placement records for the academic year '17-'18,it is doing well. some companies like Milk Mantra, IDMC, Tetra Pak, etc. Some of the non-core companies visiting the campus for placement are ZS Associates, TCS, EXL Services, Tredence, Affine Analytics, etc.

To become a commercial pilot, there is a specific eligibility criteria which you should first be aware of. This is decided on what subjects have you taken in class 12th. It requires PCM to be a pilot. And, even if you have not opted for the same, then you can appear separately for these subjects and become eligible. Further, you should be aware that you are medically fit to be a pilot, so I would suggest you to visithttp://www.dgca.nic.in/medical/medical-ind.htmand go to the class 2nd examiners tab to find out doctors who will examine you for initial fitness. You can visit any doctorate from the list as per your convenience. Once you are done with Class 2nd medical, find out a suitable flying club for you as per your convenience. You can fly in India or abroad. I would suggest you fly in India. Besides finding the club, be aware that you will have to appear for:
1. Air Navigation
2. Aviation Meteorology
3. Air Regulations
4. Aviation Technical
5. Aircraft Specific
6. Radio Telephony
Here, 1-5 are conducted by DGCA and 6 is conducted by WPC. Prepare for these subjects and appear, as exams are conducted every quarterly. For preparation, Flying Club will help you or there are private instructors available in metro cities as well. You will fly for 200Hrs + Clear DGCA and WPC exams + Clear Class 1st medical, then you shall get your CPL. The next license is ATPL, which you shall be able to apply for once. You will then have to probably fund or self-sponsor your type rating on whatever fleet you are selected in an airline. Then, you finally get a job as a pilot. I hope the process is well explained to you. CPL is an expensive affair. It might cost you around Rs.18-20 Lacs for flying + DGCA exams Rs.500/- each exam + Medicals for Rs.10,000 + endorsements and license issue fees around Rs.25k + Type Rating around Rs.15 Lacs. So, decide wisely before you enter the field. Hope I've made myself very clear!

If you are interested in Computer Science the best thing you can do is take admission in one of the top IITs or IISc and they will take it from there. The courses you do other than compulsory courses in the degree are very flexible in IITs and you can opt for the Computer Science subject, all of them anyway teaches Data Structure and Algorithmic Design with A language or two in course, you just have to pick the proper elective. Other than that, Mathematics and Computing (it's not a proper Computer Science course) offer a little extra that regular applied Mathematics courses. There is a lot of scope for changes and improvements once you get in, and it's tough to move another way, but a Mathematics Student and always just in, in Computer Science. So just choose a course with Electives closer to the Computer Science Areas, like Informatics course in IITB or Mathematics and Computing in IIT-Guwahati.

Educational qualification: The minimum eligibility for courses in Nautical Science and Marine engineering is 10+2 or an equivalent examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics. He should also pass a medical fitness test for sea service under standard norms and with eyesight 6/6 with no colour blindness. Candidates wishing to enter the navigational and engineering fields of Merchant Navy need to complete a Bachelors degree in Nautical Science or Marine engineering, before they can gain admission to the field. Selection: Candidates are selected for the B.Sc. Nautical Science degree of TS Chanakya, Mumbai; and the four-year Marine Engineering degree course at Marine Engineering Research Institute (MERI), in Calcutta and Mumbai, known as DMET, through the Joint Entrance Examination conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology IIT which assesses the candidates knowledge of physics, chemistry and mathematics. The examination is followed by personal interviews/counseling, where the interviewers assess the degree of alertness, and awareness of the external environment, in the candidates and their suitability for a career in the Merchant Navy. Direct entry to Merchant Navy is also possible - students who have completed their 12th with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) are eligible to join as Deck Cadets and a student holding a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Technology Engineering could also join the Merchant navy as a Engine Cadet/ Fifth Engineer/ Junior Engineer. Direct entry Deck Cadets are required to undergo basic pre-sea training arranged by the recruiting company itself and the direct entry Engineering cadets are preferred to do a Pre-sea course of 9 months duration in Marine Engineering conducted by the MERI.
