Hi Trilochan, You have chosen to go for the most prestigious JOB's in India. Please know that if you are 100% determined by getting into UPSC. keep your first option as B.Sc physics. It will allow you extra time to prepare for your your Preliminary and Mains. The syllabus is vast and you need to start dedicating at least 4 to 6 hours depending on your strength. Physics could be 1 of your subjects for mains too. So you need to choose 1 more subject that's of your interest and start working on it right away.
I hope you know about the age limit / attempts/ relaxation to OBC's and all. If not you can browse or write back or go to the Website of UPSC civil services examination.
Now, your second choice Engineering, It will give you a back-up, as in if in case say 1 % chance that you could not crack IAS, Engineering will always place you at some decent position. The only disadvantage I can see with Engineering is that you will have manage your time very very carefully, as engineering itself requires your involvement in lot of activities.
Also, whatever you choose, Start reading atleast 2 national news papers throughly from today onward. That helps a lot in prelims.
So please sit and relax and decide. You still have time to take a decision.
