The syllabus offered under NIELIT A-Level is intended to help advanced knowledge about Computer Applications and IT. It consists of topics such as Data Structures, DBMS, Operating Systems, Computer Networks, and Programming in languages Python, Java or C+ among others. Theory and practicals are covered in the same order, and project work is included at the end to support theoretical and practical content knowledge. It is designed for students who intend to practice their careers in software development and IT supports, among others.

Education Ministry of India has announced that Boards will conduct Board exams twice a year from the academic session 2025-26 and that students will be allowed to retain the best score. However, Tamil Nadu board is yet to release any official notification in this regard.
