Hi Prathamesh,
Its little bit difficult to say anythnig about VIT because last year around 4,720 students are offered admissions at VIT University ,Vellore and Chennai. Out of this number, 3600 seats were offered to students at VIT Vellore and the remaining 1,120 at VIT Chennai but only the first 20,000 rank holders are called for counselling.
All major branches like CS, EC, EE are likely to close at 9,000 in main campus and 15,000 in chennai campus

Both the engineering branches are good and have their own scopes. However below I have tried my best to help you with the same.
Chemical Engineering Scope:
Chemical Engineering graduates can gain good job opportunities in manufacturing and service industries such as food, materials, specialty chemicals, plastics, power production, biotechnology, Tyre manufacturing, nanotechnology, mining process, mineral based industries, petrochemical, plants, pharmaceuticals, synthetic fibers, chemical engineering designs, nuclear energy, materials science, development of new sources of energy and even medicine. Some opt to work in laboratories and universities as a professor.
Those interested in government jobs have to clear Engineering Service Examinations conducted by the UPSC. The engineering graduates are employed in defense establishment, healthcare related research projects, atomic power plants, environment regulation, recycling department and power conservation projects.

Civil Engineering Scope:
Civil engineering is the conventional branch of study in the engineering field. The course includes the study of planning, designing and implementation of structural activities. The working area of this field includes the jobs that start from the planning, analyzing, designing, supervision and construction of various public works such as bridges, dams, water sewages, etc.
Career opportunities for the B.Tech graduates in this particular branch of study at present are huge. Many job opportunities are there in the public as well as in the private sectors. The infrastructure and real estate industries are booming and requirements for the civil graduates are increasing gradually. They have opportunities in abroad also. Many international infrastructure companies are recruiting them for various constructional works.
If the graduates are opting for higher studies after B.Tech in civil engineering, then many options are there for them to choose. They can pursue this course in master's level as well as at the doctoral level. Many universities in the country offer M.Tech in Civil engineering. Different specializations are available in this branch from which students can choose their area of interest.
