Hello friend,
Merchant Navy comprise of three major departments including administrative department but the most important departments are the Engineering Department and Navigation Department.
Being a Mechanical Engineer, you may join Merchant Navy as junior engineer/engine cadet.

Students who have passed the H.S.C. examination in Arts, Science or Commerce, are eligible to apply for this course

The decision is entirely dependent on your interest areas and your skills. You need to first of understand the scope of each of these areas. Like if you choose civil engineer you will find opportunities in the construction business. After ECE there will be opportunities in the electronics and telecom sector and after CSE opportunities in the field of software programming, networking etc will be available. You should choose the stream best suited to you.
->Dont think that one branch is less than other.The only thing you need to do it from right college.
