To get to study at SUNY Maritime College, students need to apply for an F1 Visa. Pre-requisites for F1 Visa is as follows:

  • College acceptance letter.
  • An I 20 form, issued by the college which confirms that you are accepted in a specific academic program. After getting the I 20 form, student can then make an appointment for a visa with his local U.S. embassy or consulate office. Pay the SEVIS fee by completing I 901 form. Printed receipt of the form is also required.
  • Document of financial status.

If a student is applying through early decision, application must be completed and submitted by 1st November. The regular admission deadline is 31st January for which the deposit must be paid by May 1.

Yes, an average student can join SUNY Maritime College as the acceptance rate of is 80%. All a student need to have is an average SAT score between 1140 and 1300 or an ACT score of 24 and 28. Being a non-native English speaker an Indian student need to provide English Proficiency proof through TOEFL and IELTS exam. SUNY Maritime College is a right call for International students. The college provides a selection of courses in Marine Engineering, International Transportation, Marine Environmental Science, Naval Architecture etc. The college has an International Student Services Office which provides academic support to International students, gives Advisement on F-1 status, hosts cultural events and programs. SUNY Maritime College is not very competitive to get into. Even if you have mediocre grades you can get in. The acceptance rate of SUNY Maritime College is 80%. Of the applicants who submitted test results to SUNY Maritime, half had an ACT score of 24-28 or a SAT score between 1140 and 1300, which is not very hard to achieve. However, good high school record of applicant and letter or recommendation is considered to be important for admission to the college.
