But definitely in certain scenarios it is high CGPA which at least gives you an opportunity in campus placements. However in majority of states, the admissions are given on the basis of domicile and an entrance test conducted by the concerned state government. For the colleges like NIT or IIT or their equivalent run by the central government, admissions are based on JEE Mains for JEE Advanced. So for getting admission in an engineering College you need to appear for or both these exams. In addition different deemed to be universities in the private sector conduct their own entrance exams.
