A B.Tech+MBA is definitely better than only a B.Tech however, most decent B-Schools in India have a classroom with 90% engineers and there is no special differentiation or advantage that you'll get.
There are some B-Schools like NITIE and also some specialisation like Operations and IT that are more suited for engineers as they entail jobs in factories and technical fields, here your B.Tech can make your learning easier and add some value
In terms of placements, I haven't seen a company that prefers an engineer over a non-engineer. Even in fields like Operations and IT, your relevant MBA knowledge and application of the subjects get you a job and not your undergrad degree
One advantage for engineers is that they get easily placed in their in engineering college and hence can gain some relevant work experience before joining an MBA which is a real value add both from learning and job perspective
Prospects for B Tech, MBA are very good. Because from the recruiters perspective, you have been groomed in two vital areas ie, scientific thinking and problem analysis and optimization of resource usage through management. You need to
1. Have around 2 years of experience to get admitted to a good B-School.
2. Choose appropriate specialisation based on your interest, background and aptitude.
