The faculty members in the University B.D.T College of Engineering are qualified and experienced, and most of them have PhDs. Admission Procedure

Admission to this college is made completely through Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Government of Karnataka through Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). Selection is based on the Merit.

CET will be generally conducted during the month of April/May of every year. Seats are reserved for candidates belonging to different categories viz., General Merit, SC/ST, Category I, II, III & IV, and Political Sufferers, Defence, Sports, NCC and Physically Handicapped. Selection through Diploma quota and G.O.I quota are made by the Director of Technical Education, Bangalore.

The student should have passed Karnataka 2nd PUC /12th standard or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Electronics / Biology as optional subjects with English as one of the languages of study and obtained a minimum of 45% of marks in aggregate in the optional subjects. In case of candidates belonging to Karnataka Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and other Backward Classes, the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility will be 40% of marks in aggregate in the optional subjects in the qualifying examination.

The cut-off marks vary according to courses and years for admission into Visvesvaraya Technological University's University B.D.T College of Engineering. KCET 2024 cutoff marks for B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering were 37,388 while others such as Electronics were relatively higher as there was a great demand from students. The Cutoffs for Computer Science used to be much lower than what they are in the current year, around 25,785 in 2023. Getting admission into VTU affiliated Visvesvaraya Technological University affiliated University B.D.T. College of Engineering is moderately competitive. Admission is mainly on the basis of rank in KCET, COMEDK UGET or JEE Main. Good rank in KCET or COMEDK for general category students, but cutoffs may differ according to the stream and the college demand. Computer Science and Electronics are good streams as they usually have higher cutoffs. The reserved category students would relatively easily secure the admission due to the lower cutoff requirements. So, on the whole, though highly competitive, candidates who performed well in entrance exams and also have good academic records have a fair chance of admission.

6. Merit Scholarships - Provided by the Director of Collegiate Education Department, Bangalore.

The quality of food in the hostel mess at University B.D.T. College of Engineering, Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) is satisfactorily good to most students. Mess provides wide varieties of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items that cater to the taste buds and dietary requirements of different types of people. Normally, the food provided is nutritious with a balanced meal. Quality and taste, as usual in most of the hostel messes, are not of the same quality every time. However, college management maintains standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the mess. Some students occasionally complained about variety but, generally, the food serves the basic expectation.
