Make sure that you have the understanding of all the basic concepts of the topics included in CAT. You should try to connect different topics and then work to simplify the connections using lateral thinking and common sense. You can refer the material to get an idea of the understanding required. Please note that you must focus on Concepts first rather than problem solving. Suggested Books For Concept Building:

How many of these are you genuinely comfortable with? How many of these were you good at in school? If the answer is most, you don't need to worry. Pick the one you are not comfortable with and attack that topic. If the answer is one or zero, well the alarm bells should be ringing. Data Interpretation:
As far as our thinking is concerned, we view data interpretation as a combination of two skills: raw mathematical ability and calculation skills. For the first, if you honestly start your work on Qunatative, you are sorted. For the second, you should Learn tables for numbers 1 to 30 (at least from 1 to 30, remember we said at least)

Logical Reasoning
Dig into some puzzle books. Famous ones are those by George J Summers, Ravi Narula and Shakuntala Devi. Play some reasoning games. For example: Soduko

These are some of the tricks or way to crack your CAT examination:
*Vocabulary: Many questions on VA will use words that you do not typically see in normal conversation. If you know the meanings, it will be much easier to score.-Learn 20 words in the morning on weekdays (Monday to Friday)
- Revise these words once or twice through the day.
- On weekends, revise the words learnt over the week.
*Reading skills: The more you read, the better you'll get at comprehensions and other questions on VA. Practice comprehensions from sample papers, previous year papers, study material from coaching classes, etc.
*Logical reasoning: This section is actually fairly intuitive, but comes with a little bit of practice. The type of questions that are asked is limited. So with practice, you get to know the techniques required to solve different kinds of questions.
* Data interpretation: This is almost similar to LR in terms of how to master this section. One very important point for the exam is that you'll find 2 kinds of questions - (1) those that require some calculation, and (2) those that require a lot of calculation.
* Quantitative ability: Practice the important topics well, and you should be good to go. This will also require some judgement: several questions in my paper were fairly non-trivial. You need to be able to identify them quickly.
