If you full fill all the criteria for getting the VISA, then getting the VISA for any country is not difficult, the problem arrives when, with out complete preparation students apply for VISA.
So it is always advisable to cross check each and every document before filing your VISA.
Getting US VISA is considered a bit difficult as it involves the face to face interview with the VISA official and the applicant, where as German VISA is application based and does not involves interview.
Please make sure before applying for VISA, all your financial documents are in order, you must have complete information about the university and the course in which you are applying.
You should be confident during your VISA interview.
So please do not worry, just make sure that all your documents are complete, and once your documents are complete you can apply for VISA.

As per the notification name and date on which photograph is taken clearly mention on the photograph. in the notification Firmly affix two recent high contrast passport size preferably black & white
photograph (taken on or after 1.10.2011) with gum/fevicol (not to be pinned or stapled) in the
space provided for it in the Confirmation Page one duly attested by the head of the institution
where the candidate is studying/passed class XII or the Gazatted officer. The photograph must
indicate clearly the name of the candidate along with the date of taking the photograph. It should
be without cap or goggles. Spectacles are allowed. Polaroid photos are not acceptable. The
photograph of the candidate should be attested by the Principal/Head of the Institution or
Gazetted Officer in such a way that part of the signature is on the photograph and remaining part
of the signature is on the Confirmation Page. Attestation should be done on the bottom part of the
photograph so that the photograph is not defaced. Candidates not complying with these
instructions or with unclear photograph are liable to be rejected. Candidates may keep 6-8
identical photographs in reserve for use at the time of entrance
