Becoming an event photographer without a portfolio and experience can feel daunting, but everyone has to start somewhere! A great way to begin is by offering to shoot events for friends, family, or local community groups for free or for a very nominal fee. This helps you build a small portfolio. You can also assist established photographers to learn the ropes. The key is to get out there, shoot as much as you can, and start creating a body of work you can showcase.
