UPSC Exam Details : Eligibility:
For the IAS, IFS & IPS, a candidate must be a citizen of India.
For the IRS and other services, a candidate must be one of the following:
A citizen of India
*a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India

UPSC Exam Details : Age Limit
*A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on August 1 of the year of examination. For OBC the upper age limit is 35, and for SC and ST the limit is 37 years

English including comprehension: The English section will test the candidates' proficiency in English based on comprehension passages and grammar. In the comprehension section, candidates will be questioned on their understanding of the passage and its central theme, meanings of words used therein, etc. The grammar section requires correction of incorrect grammatical sentences, filling of blanks in sentences with appropriate words, etc.
General Knowledge and Current Affairs:The General knowledge will be tested on the general awareness including static general knowledge. Questions on current affairs will test candidates on their knowledge of national and international current affairs.
Mathematics:This section will test candidate's knowledge on elementary mathematics, i.e., maths taught up to 10th Class/standard.
Legal Aptitude: This section will test candidate's interest towards study of law, research aptitude and problem solving ability. Questions may include legal propositions (described in the paper), and a set of facts to which the said proposition has to be applied. Some propositions may not be "true" in the real sense, candidates will have to assume the "truth" of these propositions and answer the questions accordingly.
Logical Reasoning: The purpose of the logical reasoning section is to test the candidate's ability to identify patterns, logical links and rectify illogical arguments. It may include a variety of logical reasoning questions such as syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies, etc. However, visual reasoning will not be tested.

Eligibility criteria related to Date of Birth
1. Students who are born on or after October 1, 1992 are eligible to apply-
Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disabilities (PwD), should have been born on or after October 1, 1987. Candidates of these categories have been given a relaxation of 5 years. Note: Date of birth will be considered as per the Secondary Education Board/University certificate.
2. Eligibility criteria related to qualifying exam-
Aspirants should have passed 12th class or qualifying exam in 2015 or 2016. Students, who are appearing in class 12th or qualifying exam in 2017 can also apply.
3. Eligibility criteria related to total subjects/subject combination-
It is mandatory for aspiring candidates to have taken 5 subjects in 12th or qualifying exam. The 5 subjects for B.Tech/B.E. Are:
1-Language, 2-Physics, 3-Mathematics,
4-Any one of (Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational Subject), 5-Any other subject
According to MHRD, apart from admissions to IITs, the qualifying marks for admission to NITs, IIITs and GFTIs have also been revised. As per the notification, for candidates to qualify for admissions to NITs/IIITs/GFTIs, they should have secured at least 75% marks in class 12th exam or be in the top 20 percentile in the class 12th exam conducted by the respective boards. For SC/ST candidates, the eligibility criteria is 65% marks in class 12th.
4. Eligibility related to total number of attempts-
A JEE Main aspirant can avail 3 attempts for the national level undergraduate engineering entrance exam.
