Yes, it is very important to discuss career goals in the SOP. Your goals should be aligned with the course that you are applying for. You can specify your immediate career goals like where you would like to work and your possible role and designation after completing the program. Then, your long-term plan about what you see yourself doing professionally 10 years down the line. You can also discuss how you see yourself contributing to your field in the long run.
