KEAM was an offline exam until 2023. Candidates had to attempt the exam in pen and paper mode. All entries in OMR answer sheet are to be made with blue or black ink BALL POINT PEN only. However, from 2024 onwards, KEAM transitioned to CBT mode.

There will be 2 papers of 960 marks in total. Each paper carries 120 questions of 480 marks. There will be 2 papers in KEAM paper 1 will be Physics and Chemistry. Paper 2 will be Maths. Paper 1 will be held from 10 am to 12:30 pm, and paper 2 will be held from 2:30 pm to 5 pm. Thus, each papers will be of 2 hours 30 minutes.
