Sometimes student Artists are too much enamoured by Fine Arts preventing them to look objectively at Design. They must read this http://bit.ly/SXc9GD. Again like science it pays to be at the cutting edge. For e.g. science students do better if they go for CS or IT since that are areas where development is taking place rapidly. Similarly in Design the cutting edge areas are UID/ UXD, 3D Printing, Immersive Technology, Augmented Reality, 3D Projection etc, besides of course Game Design & Animation. Of course at the top of the pile lies Concept Designing (usually reserved for writers and visionaries) - these people are required by Event Companies, Animation Studios, VFX Studios, & of course Game Studios. At this stage, you may want to understand the creative world and the careers it offers. Interiors, textile as well as Web Design rely on the same skills - your layout skills and color sense. Journalism also is at this level and relies on your language skills & knowledge of history and current affairs. A little higher perches Graphic Design, Fashion Design, jewellery design, Acting, & Fine Arts which rely on one of your artistic skills - sketching & imagination. At a similar level perches VFX as well as Motion Graphics which rely on one of your artistic skills - Cinematographic skills & imagination. Then come careers like Animation, Film Making, Game Design which rely on multiple talents like your authority over sketching, acting, direction, voice, sound, writing, storytelling and problem solving skills etc. Any extra skill can be used in this. So it turns out to be one of the most challenging as well as satisfying careers. Sure not recommended for the weak hearted. Do remember that digital design careers (e.g. web design, graphics, UI design, animation, vfx, multimedia) give better profits since they can be delivered anywhere in the world & hence may earn in dollars - resulting in better rewards for designers. NIFT Entrance Test is taken by candidates to secure admissions into various design programmes on offer at National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). This fashion design entrance exam is conducted at a national level for candidates seeking admissions in design, management and technology programmes on offer at NIFT’s 15 domestic centres.
As part of the NIFT Entrance Test, candidates are evaluated on different parameters such as aptitude, skill and knowledge. Due to this, the NIFT entrance exam is usually divided into four sections which are:
Situation test
General ability test
Creative ability test
Group discussion/ Personal Interview
The weightage given to each level/exam in NIFT Entrance test is as follows:
Bachelor of Design-

GAT 30%

IT (Information Technology) is a growing field, in India, and is looked upon, as one of the industries to provide jobs. A science student, interested in joining the IT bandwagon is usually confused between many courses on offer at the undergraduate level and might end up joining a course which might not be as beneficial as some other course.
One such confusion comes between choosing BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications) or B.SC (Computer Science). We have listed some of the difference in these courses to help you reach a decision.
B.Sc (Computer Science)The B.Sc (CS) course mainly focuses on the mathematical and theoretical foundations of computing, rather than teaching specific technologies that may quickly become outdated. The course prepares you for higher education.
It is more of an academic course and admission to most universities is based on your performance at the HSC level. Having physics, chemistry and maths is essential to apply for this course. Education after B.Sc: You can pursue courses like M.Sc or MCA. You can even pursue an M.Tech, after you complete your M.Sc, if the M.Sc(CS) degree is recognised by UGC or AIU (Association of Indian Universities). For M.Tech you can appear for the GATE examination conducted by the IITs or check individual universities which conduct their own entrance exam.
BCA - This is an undergraduate program where students are introduced to various areas of computer science, programming, database design, software engineering, networks and information systems. This course prepares graduates for further postgraduate research degrees or employment in any variety of roles in organizations that require expert professionals who can apply computer science principles to solve problems produced by the interface between business and technology. It is more of a professional course. The admission to most colleges is based on an entrance test, the eligibility for most is 50% or above in HSC with Maths as a compulsory subject.
You can go for an MCA or you can directly apply for an M.Tech, after you complete your BCA.
You can not pursue an M.Tech directly after completing your B.Sc , You can pursue an M.Tech degree after you complete your BCA.

For being eligible to apply for MCA, you have to have mathematics as one of the subjects at 10+2 level or statistics as one of the subjects at graduation level. If you fulfill these criteria you are eligible for MCA.
As far as other information regarding MCA is concerned, we would like to state that most of the entrance tests are conducted in April or May. Notifications are out in January or February. The combined MCA entrance tests held in India are: NIMCET for NITs, CET Maharashtra for Maharashtra colleges, UPMCAT for most colleges in UP, Andhra Pradesh CET for Colleges in AP,Orissa State MCA Test for all Colleges in Orissa, MET for All college under Punjabi Univ. GNDU, & PTU in Punjab, MP-Pre MCA Test for all colleges in MP, Kerala MCA Test for all colleges in Kerala.
The most reputed universities and colleges offering MCA degree in India are: Delhi University, Pune University, Jawahar Lal Nehru university, New Delhi, IIT Roorkee, NIT Trichy, VJTI, Mumbai, Banaras Hindu University, MNNIT Allahabad, ICSE Indore, Thapar University. Other colleges offering MCA are NITs, Vellore Institute, PSG Coimbatore, Hyderabad Central University, BITS Mesra, Jalgaon University, and Punjab University etc.

Engineering Exams Other Than JEE and VITEEE :-
1. BITSAT : Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test for admissions to the engineering degree courses at the BITS campuses in Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad.
Eligibility: Candidates must have completed their 10+2 from a recognized Board in the country. They must have secured a minimum of 75% in aggregate in the subjects of Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. In addition, they must have secured a minimum of 60% in each subject separately. Candidates must be proficient in English as well.
Exam Pattern: Online Test: 3 hours, objective type / multiple choice question
2. MU OET : MU OET is the Online Entrance Test conducted by the Manipal University for admissions to various courses in engineering at the affiliated institutes of the University.
Eligibility: Candidates must have passed 10+2 or A Level or IB or American 12th grade or equivalent with a minimum of 50% in Physics, Mathematics and any one of the optional subjects. Candidates must have studied Physics, Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects with optional subjects being Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology.
Paper Pattern: Online test: 2.5 hours, 200 questions (Physics 50 / Chemistry 50 / Mathematics 70 / English & General Aptitude 30)
3. SRMEEE : SRM University Engineering Entrance Examination for admissions to the undergraduate engineering courses across the campuses of the SRM University. Around 7,000 seats across four campuses- Kattankulathur, Ramapuram, Ramapuram Part II – Vadapalani and NCR Ghaziabad.
Eligibility: Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent from any recognized board. Candidates must have obtained a minimum aggregate of 70% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Maths.
Paper Pattern:
Part 1 : 35 question in Mathematics for 105 marks
Part 2: 35 question in Physics for 105 marks
Part 3: 35 question in Chemistry for 105 marks
Part 4: 35 question in Biology for 105 marks.
