In all the states, there is a Personnel department that controls the transfer and posting of the state PCS officers. The head of the state personnel department is the Chief Minister. The Chief Secretary of the state is the nodal officer for the state IAS officers and the PCS officers through some Principal Secretary. The candidates selected on the  PCS officer's post are appointed by the Governor of the State.

There are 8 question papers in the UPPSC PCS main exam. All the papers are compulsory and the marks secured in all the papers are counted for the final merit. The UPPSC Main exam is a descriptive type exam where the candidates are required to write conventional essay type answers in the answer sheet provided by the Commission. In UPPSC prelims exam, there are two question papers where the second paper is qualifying only and the UPPCS Prelims General Studies paper 1 marks are calculated for the merit list.

A. UPPSC PCS is considered as one of the toughest exams in the state. The Age limit for UPPSC PCS exam is different for the different categories. It is defined as follows:

  • Lower Age limit is 21 years
  • Upper Age Limit is 40 years

The age of the candidates is counted as on July 1 of the exam year. The age is counted from January 1 of the exam year. 

The Commission provides relaxation in the upper age limit to candidates belonging to the reserve categories.

No, the CAT application form can only be filled out online on the official website iimcat.ac.in. There is no option to submit the CAT form in offline mode. Candidates will have to create an account on the CAT website once the registrations begin and fill out the CAT form through that candidate account. Candidates must also note that no other website hosts the CAT form other than iimcat.ac.in
