Thwre is no such thing called direct admission in premium bschools. Fees are same for all students except OBC, SC,ST. MAT & XAT have their own fees which is common.

You should have atleast 320+ to get admission there whereas for CSE you should score atleast 380.
Apart from the BITSAT exam marks one should have atleast 80% in PCM each.

CAT doesn't check your sharpness. The questions are really easy (it is basically class 10-12 Maths and English). They check speed and accuracy, which only comes from practice. If you can practice enough, I don't think you will have any problem cracking CAT. And don't think about salary now and don't settle for anything that comes your way, fight for what you deserve.

There is no difference between private and Government Engineering colleges with respect to syllabus. Most of private colleges are affiliated to either a UGC approved university or are deemed university themselves. For example in state of UP most of the private colleges are affilated to UP Technical University. Major difference can be in fee, infrastructure , Faculty, quality of education, brand image etc. Some of the private universities such as BITS Pilani have better name and brand image.
