I dont agree with your seniors. CSE branch passed engineers have wide scope for getting jobs. Although ECE also have good scope but it would be wrong to say that CSE has less scope. you should first think about your interest whether you have interst in programming / coding. if yes then definitely you should go for CSE and rest assured at least in India, CSE scope is definitely not an issue.
