In UK all masters program are one year program and it is equal to our two year program in India. Once you finish your masters in UK, you can do PhD in all universities in the world. You cannot compare this UK masters with our masters in India. though it is one year program it all specialized courses. for example engineering students do Mtech in India and there is not much specialization here. First see this University websites to understand what type of courses offered in UK. www.gre.ac.uk or www.shu.ac.uk

Thanx @manmeet
Anurag, there is nothing like internship for engineering students like medical students. After 6th semester, you are supposed to do industrial training for which BSNL, Doordarshan and CRISP like government departments conduct Industrial training courses. There is another word for engineering graduates which is known as "apprenticeship". It is offered to fresher graduates by government & PSU organizations like HAL, BHEL and electricity boards. Usually it is for one year period and a stipend of Rs. 3000 to 4000 is given during this period.
