The five-year integrated programme in management is offered at IIM Indore only and is a unique and creative programme to meet the aspirations of young students to become management professionals, change agents and societal leaders.
The five-year integrated programme in management is aimed at students who have passed out class XII / Higher Secondary or equivalent from various schools in India. It is widely believed that our ability to influence the younger students is much greater.
Eligibility criteria for this programme are 60% aggregate marks at Secondary/ X Std/ Equivalent and at Higher Secondary/XII/+2 level/ Equivalent for General and NC-OBC category candidates (55% aggregate marks at Secondary/ X Std/ Equivalent and at Higher Secondary/XII/+2 level/ Equivalent for SC, ST and PWD / DA candidates). All candidates meeting the minimum eligibility mentioned above will be called for Aptitude Test.

Most aspiring management degree seekers are a confused lot while they are choosing a course as they are not sure if a distance MBA or a PGDBA degree will fetch them maximum return on their fees. While PGDBA is a post graduate diploma which is approved by AICTE through the government and can be pursued after having attained an MBA, the degree of an MBA is recognized by the UGC and can be pursued by graduates from any stream. While universities have the rights to offer MBA degrees, institutes which function as autonomous bodies (not affiliated to any university) award PGDBA to students.
Curriculum and Cost Differences
While autonomous bodies which offer distance PGDBA do not have to adhere to university standards, they mould the curriculum for their courses according to industry standards and the changing business environment. Universities follow a set curriculum for MBA. Thus, a PGDBA will prepare aspirants for specific roles in the management sector while an MBA helps him or her develop overall business knowledge.
You will also notice a difference in fee structure of an MBA and PGDBA. Apart from that, the eligibility for the courses is different too, candidates who have completed an MBA from recognized university or a 2-year PGD in Business Management are eligible to pursue PGDBA. To pursue an MBA, a candidate needs a Bachelor degree, or a four year degree in either business, or any other discipline. Experience in organizations and their management is an added plus.
