You should start preparing immediately and give the exam before July because you won't be able to give the old pattern then. If you are okay with giving the new pattern, then you should start preparing in the month of may when you have holidays, and keep preparing side by side once your 7th Semester starts. Once you have given your 8th semester exams, take the test.
My personal recommendation: Start preparing immediately and take the old pattern.

Your are technical and you shall prefer practicing BDS or higher studies in medical more than Admin or Management. This will have a better scope, better career satisfaction, better income and you will serve the society, the nation. Still if you wish to do MBA (Hospital Mgt) by distance learning then SMU and Alagappa university are good options.
